Everything you need to know about our dash cam services and installation process
Cameras & Equipment
Professional dash cam installation costs between $345 and $1166, covering front-facing, dual-channel (front and rear), and three-channel systems (front, rear, and cabin).
We work with brands including BlackVue, VIOFO, and WOLFBOX. Features vary by model and configuration and can include 1080P through 4K HDR recording, GPS logging, local WiFi access, and parking-mode recording. Parking-mode availability and runtime depend on the vehicle, power source, camera settings, and conditions.
Camera-included packages specify the camera and storage provided. Installation packages include professional hardwiring, supported camera and app configuration, and concealed routing where the vehicle design and safe access support it; some wiring, connectors, or mounting hardware may remain visible when needed. Installation labor includes a 1-year workmanship warranty subject to the published terms.
We help you choose a system based on your driving needs, vehicle compatibility, and budget during a consultation.

Available packages include Full HD, 2K QHD, and 4K Ultra HD recording, depending on the selected model and channel configuration. Supported models can include Sony STARVIS or STARVIS 2 sensors, HDR, wide-angle lenses, and loop recording. Higher resolution and HDR can help preserve useful detail, but license-plate legibility is never guaranteed; it varies with camera placement, distance, vehicle speed, lighting, weather, reflections, and motion. Review the current package specifications for the exact resolution, frame rate, sensor, and features included with a model.
Parking mode can record while a compatible camera is parked and the vehicle is off. Available modes vary by model and may include motion detection, impact detection, time-lapse, low-bitrate recording, or low-power impact detection. No camera is guaranteed to capture every incident.
A compatible hardwire kit supplies parking-mode power and can be configured with a low-voltage cutoff designed to stop camera operation at a selected threshold. It does not eliminate battery use or guarantee a specific runtime. Runtime depends on the vehicle battery and its condition, cutoff setting, camera and channel count, selected mode, activity, temperature, and other conditions. We configure supported features and explain their limitations during the walkthrough.
Access methods depend on the selected camera. Current VIOFO package cameras store recordings locally rather than in cloud storage. Supported models let you connect to the camera's local WiFi through the manufacturer's app to view or download clips, and you can remove the microSD card to copy files with a compatible reader. Some models also support direct wired transfer or external storage. Local WiFi is not the same as 4G remote access. During the installation walkthrough, we configure supported app access and show you how to locate and preserve clips.
Camera-included packages list the storage supplied; installation-only packages require the customer to provide compatible storage. Recording time varies with card capacity, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, channel count, audio, and selected recording mode. On supported cameras, loop recording overwrites older normal files as storage fills, and sufficiently strong G-sensor events may be placed in a protected folder. Event protection and retention are not infallible, so important clips should be copied promptly. Follow the camera and card manufacturer's formatting and maintenance guidance.
Dash Cam Ready lists front-camera, front-and-rear, and three-channel packages priced from $540 to $1166, with current Standard, Plus, and Premium variants. Installation-only service starts at $345 when the customer-provided vehicle, camera, cables, mount, memory card, and hardwire kit are compatible.
Package comparison:
- Front Camera ($540 to $892): A forward-facing viewpoint for recording the road ahead.
- Front and Rear Camera ($771 to $1046): Adds a rear-facing viewpoint. What either camera captures depends on placement, field of view, lighting, motion, and conditions.
- Triple Camera ($883 to $1166): Adds an interior cabin viewpoint; infrared cabin recording is available only on models that specify it.
Review the current package page for the exact model, storage, channel count, included equipment, and supported features. Installation scope, cable concealment, parking mode, app setup, and walkthrough content depend on the vehicle and selected equipment.

Installation
Installation time varies with the vehicle, camera count, equipment, mounting locations, and safe access to wiring and interior panels.
The planned scope can include vehicle assessment, hardwiring, cable routing, camera mounting, supported system configuration, and a walkthrough. We provide a time estimate after reviewing your vehicle and selected equipment; the estimate may change if the inspection identifies additional complexity.
Yes. Installation-only service starts at $345 for customers who already own a dash cam. Current prices are $345 for front-only, $445 for front and rear, and $495 for front, rear, and cabin installation, plus taxes. Vehicle, camera, cable, hardwire-kit, and feature compatibility must be confirmed before booking. The written scope identifies the mounting, wiring, configuration, and walkthrough work supported for that vehicle and equipment. Installation labor includes a 1-year workmanship warranty subject to the published terms.
Dash Cam Ready assesses many common sedans, coupes, hatchbacks, SUVs, crossovers, trucks, minivans, commercial vehicles, electric vehicles, and hybrids. Compatibility is vehicle- and equipment-specific; voltage, fuse access, trim and airbag routing, cable length, camera mounting, and the vehicle's power-management requirements must be evaluated before booking. Specialty, modified, motorcycle, RV, and 24V installations require confirmation in the written scope.
The installation process is tailored to the vehicle and selected equipment. It generally includes a vehicle and equipment assessment, an agreed camera position, compatible power connection, cable routing where safely accessible, configuration of supported recording and parking features, system checks, and a customer walkthrough. Mounting location, wiring method, visible cable length, app setup, parking-mode support, and duration vary by vehicle and camera. The booking flow or written quote provides the expected scope and time estimate.
Yes, dash cam installation generally requires access to the vehicle interior and an appropriate power source. Depending on the vehicle and selected equipment, the work may involve the fuse panel, headliner or interior trim, and windshield mounting areas.
Cable routing is concealed where the vehicle design and safe access allow. Some wiring, connectors, or mounting hardware may remain visible when needed for safety, service access, or compatibility. Tell us about custom upholstery, aftermarket panels, or other interior concerns so the proposed approach can be reviewed before work begins.
We assess many common passenger, utility, commercial, electric, and hybrid vehicles, but compatibility is not universal. The vehicle, camera, channel count, hardwire kit, voltage, fuse access, trim and airbag routing, cable length, and power-management requirements determine whether and how an installation can be completed. Specialty, modified, motorcycle, RV, box-truck, and 24V installations require confirmation before booking. The written scope identifies the supported configuration and any vehicle-specific limitations.
Fleet Services
Yes. Dash Cam Ready provides mobile fleet dash cam installation in the listed San Diego County service area. The written quote identifies vehicle and equipment compatibility, per-vehicle scope, project pricing, payment terms, site-access requirements, and an estimated schedule. Installation labor includes a 1-year workmanship warranty subject to the published terms. Any additional support, maintenance, or invoicing arrangement must be included in the quote.
Fleet work begins with an assessment of vehicle types, camera viewpoints, storage, power, site access, scheduling, and operational requirements. The written quote then identifies each configuration, price and payment terms, the estimated schedule, and any training or support included. Installations can be phased when appropriate. Actual throughput and completion dates depend on the vehicle mix, equipment, access, installation complexity, appointment availability, and issues discovered during the work.
Fleet pricing is provided by written quote. It can vary with vehicle count and mix, selected camera configurations, installation complexity, site access, scheduling, and any requested training or support. The quote states any project-specific discount, taxes or charges, deposit, payment timing, and invoicing terms before work begins; no fixed discount or net-payment threshold is promised on this page.
Yes, Dash Cam Ready specializes in installing dash cams across mixed vehicle fleets with different makes, models, and vehicle types. We adapt our installation approach for each vehicle rather than applying a one-size-fits-all solution.
Vehicle types we support in fleet installations:
- Sedans and coupes for sales or executive teams
- SUVs and crossovers for field service operations
- Pickup trucks for construction and maintenance crews
- Cargo and passenger vans for delivery services
- Box trucks for logistics and distribution
- Electric vehicles and hybrids with specialized power management
Each vehicle receives a camera configuration matched to its type and role in your fleet. For example, delivery vehicles may benefit from multi-channel systems with interior cameras, while service trucks might need rugged exterior-mounted options. We assess each vehicle type during the consultation phase and provide recommendations tailored to your operational requirements.
The estimated rollout schedule is documented in the written quote after the vehicle mix, camera configurations, installation complexity, site access, and appointment availability are assessed. Larger fleets can be divided into phases when appropriate. Estimates may change if vehicle access, equipment, weather, site conditions, or previously unknown installation requirements affect the work.
Fleet installation labor includes a 1-year workmanship warranty subject to the published terms. Equipment remains subject to its manufacturer warranty. Any response target, priority scheduling, camera health check, firmware assistance, remote troubleshooting, on-site visit, dedicated contact, or ongoing maintenance service must be expressly included in the written fleet quote; those services are not implied by the workmanship warranty.
We recommend fleet cameras after reviewing vehicle types, required viewpoints, storage needs, and how footage will be accessed. Current VIOFO options can provide local GPS logging on supported models, local WiFi app access, loop recording, and model-specific parking modes. Dual-channel systems add rear coverage, while three-channel systems can add an interior camera.
Current VIOFO package cameras do not provide 4G or cloud fleet management. Parking-mode availability, detection behavior, and runtime vary by model, hardwire configuration, vehicle power, settings, and conditions. The written quote identifies the exact model and supported features for each vehicle role.
Our current VIOFO package cameras are local-recording dash cams, not a cloud fleet-management platform. They do not provide 4G remote video retrieval, live web-dashboard access, driver scoring, or real-time GPS tracking. Built-in GPS on supported models logs location, speed, and time for later playback after the recording is accessed locally. If your fleet requires an integration with a telematics or fleet-management platform, identify the exact platform and requirements during consultation so compatibility can be confirmed before any system is quoted.
Service Area
Yes. Dash Cam Ready provides mobile installation at an agreed home, office, or other suitable service location within the listed San Diego County service area. Location eligibility, site-access requirements, appointment availability, and any travel charge are confirmed during booking or in the written quote.
Dash Cam Ready lists 70+ San Diego County service areas, including La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, Downtown San Diego, North Park, Hillcrest, Coronado, Point Loma, Mission Valley, Del Mar, Chula Vista, El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, and others. A listed area indicates the mobile service area, not guaranteed appointment availability at every address. Location eligibility, site access, appointment openings, and any travel charge are confirmed during booking or in a written quote.
Heat inside a parked vehicle can exceed the outdoor temperature, and direct sun, humidity, salt exposure, the mounting surface, the power source, and ventilation can affect camera and adhesive performance. Operating and storage temperature ranges, power components (including whether a model uses a supercapacitor or battery), and environmental protection vary by exact camera model; consult the current manufacturer specifications and manual for the selected equipment. We choose a mounting location and compatible materials based on the vehicle and equipment, but we do not guarantee shade, seal the vehicle or camera against moisture, or guarantee performance under every condition. Inspect the mount and wiring periodically, and contact us if heat or exposure affects them.
A dash cam may be useful anywhere you want a record of trips or detected parking-mode events. The most suitable configuration depends on your routes, parking arrangements, vehicle, desired viewpoints, storage needs, and power constraints. Busy streets, freeway travel, tight parking, rideshare use, and vehicles left unattended are common reasons customers consider front, rear, or cabin coverage, but no location or camera configuration guarantees that an incident or identifying detail will be captured.
Support & Warranty
Yes. Every installation includes a 1-year workmanship warranty on installation labor. It covers defects in our wiring, mounting, connections, and other installation work, subject to the published warranty terms.
Equipment defects, customer modifications, accidents, and misuse are outside the workmanship warranty. Equipment warranty terms vary by manufacturer, and equipment claims must be filed with the manufacturer; we can assist with that process. Contact us if you believe an issue is installation-related so it can be evaluated under the warranty terms.
The installation walkthrough covers the controls and features supported by the selected camera and configuration. Depending on the model, that can include starting and stopping recording, local app access, downloading and preserving clips, parking-mode settings, storage access, and manufacturer-recommended maintenance. Any additional training or ongoing support included with a fleet or custom project is documented in the written quote.
If your dash cam stops working, start with these basic troubleshooting steps: verify the power cable is securely connected at both ends, check that the microSD card is properly inserted and not full or corrupted, and try restarting your vehicle to reset the power cycle. If the LED indicator is not lighting up, the fuse tap connection may need attention. For app connectivity issues, ensure your phone's WiFi is connected to the camera's network. If these steps do not resolve the issue, contact Dash Cam Ready directly. Our 1-year workmanship warranty covers all installation-related issues, and we can often diagnose problems remotely via phone or video call. If an on-site visit is needed, we will schedule a service appointment at your location. Common causes of dash cam issues include corrupted memory cards (resolved by reformatting) and loose power connections.
There are several common reasons a compatible camera may not activate parking mode. Verify that parking mode is enabled, confirm that the hardwire kit and selected mode are supported by the camera, and check whether the configured low-voltage cutoff or the vehicle's own battery-management system has stopped auxiliary power. A weak or aging battery may reach the cutoff sooner. Motion detection, impact detection, time-lapse, and low-bitrate modes behave differently and vary by model. A cutoff is designed to limit discharge, but it does not prevent all battery use or guarantee a particular runtime. Contact Dash Cam Ready for installation-related troubleshooting or a service appointment.
Pricing & Legal
Available payment methods, payment timing, taxes, travel charges, deposits, and any fleet invoicing terms are disclosed in the booking flow or written quote before work begins. Contact Dash Cam Ready before booking if you need a specific payment method or business invoicing arrangement.
California law permits dash cams subject to current rules, including windshield-placement and driver-visibility restrictions. Audio, privacy, workplace, rideshare, and fleet policies can create additional obligations depending on how and where a camera is used. This FAQ is general information, not legal advice. Review the current California Vehicle Code, notify occupants when required, follow employer or platform rules, and consult a qualified attorney for legal guidance. Installation does not guarantee that every use or recording is legally compliant.
Dash cam footage can provide a time-stamped record that may help document an incident for an insurer, law-enforcement agency, or attorney. What the footage establishes depends on the camera view, image quality, conditions, and the facts of the incident; it does not guarantee fault, coverage, claim acceptance, or a faster outcome. License-plate details may or may not be legible.
Insurance rules and any premium discounts vary by carrier, policy, and jurisdiction. Ask your insurer whether it accepts dash cam footage, how to preserve and submit a clip, and whether it offers any applicable discount.
On a supported camera with G-sensor recording enabled, an impact above the configured threshold may lock an event file or place it in a protected folder. Detection and file protection are not guaranteed, and normal loop recording can eventually overwrite unprotected footage. As soon as it is safe, stop recording according to the camera instructions and copy the relevant files to another device without editing the originals. Do not format the card until the files are backed up. Supported GPS-equipped models can also log location, speed, and time data for later playback.
